 ITQS Programs in Education
 
ITQS programs have been successfully implemented in educational settings for many years. ITQS was introduced into a Tsfat primary school as part of the Israeli Education Ministry's effort to reduce violence and improve the school climate. Since then, children of all ages have been taught the program, including special education classes and to new immigrant groups with limited language skills.
 
The program entailed creating a special environment, the ITQS room. In this pleasant and easily organized sensory area, the ITQS staff introduced teachers and pupils to a profound experience of trust, calm and quiet. There the ITQS staff taught MicroCalming, our conditioned calming technique. After an intro-ductory period, teachers began practicing the technique in the classroom with the pupils every day for five minutes. The children continued to visit the room in small groups for a few weeks as reinforcement. After one month of practice the technique becomes conditioned, and Micro-Calming can be used as a coping tool anywhere and at any time.
 
The cost of the program is minimal. Expenses include equipping the room (with soft seats, pleasant lighting, and a CD player).
 
Since then, ITQS has been introduced into additional schools, kindergartens and nurseries in northern Israel, including orthodox religious frameworks. Workshops for parents are also very successful.
 
The program provides a common language for children, staff and parents (who hear about it from their children and learn about it at parents meetings). ITQS improves the school atmosphere and enhances children's parents' and staff's coping skills. The children are very enthusiastic about ITQS, and many stories illustrate how they apply MicroCalming coping skills in their daily lives. Pupils also teach their siblings and parents how to use the technique to stay calm.

Today the ITQS Centre offers services for educational institutions. Our goal is to provide a cost- effective program to maximize the number of children and staff benefiting from this unique coping tool and enriching environment.
